Feeling Stuck? Signs Your Finances (and Life) Need a Reset
Heyyy girl,
Have you ever felt like you're just spinning your wheels—working hard but still stuck in the same place? What if the warning signs were there all along, but you didn’t know how to spot them?
Today, I want to talk about those subtle (and not-so-subtle) warning signs that your finances—and maybe even your life—need a reset. I’ll share my personal journey, faith-based action steps, and practical tips to help you move toward the life God has called you to live.
My Wake-Up Call
Let me tell you a story.
I was deep in a season of avoidance. I’d overspend, avoid looking at my bank statements, and convince myself it was just a phase. But deep down, I knew I was out of alignment—not just financially, but spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. It wasn’t until I broke down that I realized the issue wasn’t about money or knowledge—it was about trust.
I wasn’t trusting God to guide my steps. I was relying on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6), trying to outwork the cracks instead of addressing them.
Have you ever avoided reality? Whether it’s a credit card bill, an overdue prayer session, or that gut feeling something needs to change, we’ve all been there.
The Warning Signs
If any of this feels familiar, it’s time to check for cracks in your finances and life:
Overspending to feel a fleeting sense of joy.
Avoiding hard conversations about money or boundaries.
Struggling with self-discipline due to a lack of trust—in yourself or God.
Proverbs 27:12 says, “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.”Addressing these signs now can save you from paying a higher price later—financially, emotionally, or spiritually.
Faith-Based Action Steps
Here’s how you can start resetting your finances and life:
Journal to Uncover Patterns
Write down your habits and pray for wisdom as you reflect (James 1:5).
Ask God: “Lord, show me what I need to see about myself.”
Set One Small Financial Goal This Week
Start tracking your spending daily or create a simple budget (Luke 16:10).
Remember, whoever is faithful with little can be trusted with much.
Replace Avoidance with Action
Write down one financial issue you’ve been avoiding and take a step to address it. Whether it’s opening that overdue bill or calling a creditor, ask God for the courage to face it.
The Role of Faith in Lasting Change
Lasting change starts with trust—trusting God to guide you, even when the path feels uncertain. Matthew 6:33 reminds us, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Here are three more steps to create lasting change:
Commit Your Goals to God Through Prayer and Fasting (Proverbs 16:3).
Find an Accountability Partner who shares your faith and values (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).
Write a Faithful Vision—a prayerfully crafted description of the life you want to build with God’s help (Habakkuk 2:2-3).
Take the First Step
Ignoring the cracks in your finances and life won’t make them disappear. It just makes them louder. Trust me, I’ve been there.
But here’s the good news: God’s got you. He just needs you to take the first step.
