You Planted The Seed, Now Trust God's Timing & Embrace Your Role
As we step into a new season, many of us carry the weight of expectations, wondering why the seeds we’ve planted aren’t bearing fruit. Maybe you’ve poured your heart into a project, a relationship, or a calling, only to feel like nothing is happening. Let’s take a moment to shift our perspective.
What if your job was simply to plant the seed and not cultivate it?
I was reminded of this truth through my own journey. Seven years ago, a pastor told me finance was my ministry. At the time, I laughed it off. Ministry? Me? I wasn’t even in church or actively seeking God. Fast forward, and here I am today, fully embracing the calling I couldn’t understand back then.
What changed? Time. God used those years to prepare me, prune me, and make me comfortable with my story. Now, I can integrate faith, finance, and womanhood into my work in ways I never imagined.
The Growth Process
Planting a seed is only the beginning. Let’s take a lesson from nature:
Patience is Key: A pawpaw tree, for instance, takes five to seven years to bear fruit. That’s after the tree itself grows! Growth involves unseen processes like pollination and external factors like farmers attracting bees and butterflies.
You’re Not the Only Factor: Just as a tree relies on multiple elements to flourish, your efforts are part of a bigger plan. God often works through others and external circumstances to bring about the fruit in His perfect timing.
Preparation is Necessary: Had I jumped into my ministry seven years ago, I would’ve missed the deeper integration of my story, faith, and purpose. Sometimes reaching the outcome too soon can cause more harm than good.
Releasing Control
As a self-proclaimed recovering control freak, I understand the struggle of wanting to know and produce outcomes. But God has been teaching me to let go of the need to control everything. Here’s what I’ve learned:
Focus on Obedience: Your role is to plant the seed. Be faithful in your actions and trust God with the results.
Let Go of Anxiety: Releasing control allows you to find peace in the process.
Make Room for Growth: When we let go of what we can’t control, we create space for what we’re truly called to nurture.
A Word of Encouragement
If you’re frustrated by the lack of visible progress, know that your timing isn’t off—it’s being prepared. The seeds you’ve planted will grow in God’s perfect timing. Trust the process, lean into patience, and remember that you’re part of a larger picture.
Let 2025 be a year of intentional seed planting without the pressure of immediate results. Embrace your role and let God do the rest.
Until next time, release the anxiety and hold onto faith. Your season of fruitfulness will come. 🌱
