Finding My Final Home: Owning My Story, Embracing Balance

Lately, I’ve been feeling the weight of it all—of endless notifications, constant scrolling, and the overwhelming flood of information that comes from living in a digital world. Maybe you’ve felt it too. That nagging sense that no matter how much you try to keep up, there’s always more. More posts to consume, more opinions to sift through, more noise to filter out and now dealing with the discourse around if TikTok will be banned or not (I personally don’t post a lot over there. I mostly consume Matcha, Christian, & K-Drama content😂)

Anyway… all of it is exhausting.

For so long, I told myself this was just the way things are. Short-form platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and others have been a big part of my journey—they’ve allowed me to connect with you and share snippets of my story. But over time, I’ve started to feel fragmented, like pieces of my story were scattered across platforms, reduced to soundbites that couldn’t possibly capture the full picture.

And let’s be honest, these platforms aren’t designed to foster stillness or reflection. They thrive on quick hits of dopamine, keeping us glued to our screens as we scroll endlessly, consuming hundreds of messages a day—most of them unhealthy for our minds, our spirits, and our nervous systems (depending on what you’re algorithm looks like but even then… too much of a good thing is still bad).

We weren’t meant to take in this much noise.

Why I’m Choosing to Slow Down

I realized that I was getting caught up in something I didn’t even fully believe in. Doom-scrolling, algorithm chasing, constantly pivoting to fit whatever the platform decided to prioritize that month. It’s not just tiring—it’s soul-draining.

And the worst part? It doesn’t leave room for what really matters.

I’ve started talking about balance earlier this year by telling my story—helping women align their faith, finances, and lives. But I wasn’t fully living it (I mean it’s a new and ongoing journey- so there’s that). Balance isn’t just about managing your time; it’s about protecting your energy. It’s about choosing intentionality over chaos, peace over noise, and depth over the constant demand for “more.”

That’s why I’m stepping away from the frenzy of short-form platforms and planting roots in a space I can truly call home: my website.

As I was transitioning from “ThatFinanceChick”, getting rid of my old website, trying to find my true voice, I made a pit stop over to Substack. I loved it over there. It’s slower, intentional, authentic- an overall vibe, honesty but the problem is… it’s not mine. I just traded platforms that I still had no control over.

I’m looking at platforms like real estate. It’s more than ok to rent but in many cases it may be better to own. If you’re a business owner/content creator or aspiring to be, it way be worth considering what type of digital real estate you want to maintain- especially if you’re solo. For me in this season, I’m sticking with YouTube, this newsletter blog, and eventually my private community. Honorable mention: Threads

Creating a Space for What Matters

This move isn’t just about technology—it’s about reclaiming my story and simplifying my life. On short-form platforms, my voice felt fractured. I’d share one thought here, another there, but never the fullness of the journey.

On my website, I can take my time. I can tell my story the way it’s meant to be told—without worrying about character limits, algorithms, or keeping up with trends. I can focus on creating resources, reflections, and tools that truly serve you, instead of just adding to the noise.

And as I think about the year ahead—about 2025 and beyond—I know the noise isn’t going to get quieter. The platforms will keep changing. The doom-scrolling will keep growing. The messages that flood our feeds will only get louder and more harmful.

But we don’t have to live that way.

An Invitation to Slow Down Together

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed—tired of the constant scrolling, the unhealthy messages, the pressure to keep up—I want to invite you into something quieter, something more intentional.

This next chapter isn’t just about me finding balance; it’s about creating space for you to do the same. My website will be a place to slow down, reconnect, and realign. It’s where I’ll share my story, yes, but also tools and resources to help you live a life rooted in faith, balance, and purpose.

Let’s trade the noise for stillness. Let’s trade the chaos for clarity.

    What’s Next

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be building out my website as a home for everything I want to share with you. It will be a space where we can connect deeply, without distractions or algorithms standing in the way.

So, here’s my invitation: take this step with me. Bookmark my website, check in often, and let’s walk this journey together.

Because balance isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a choice. It’s choosing to let go of the noise so we can focus on what really matters: faith, purpose, and the life we were meant to live.

    With love,
